Job description

Speech Language Pathologist / SLP

Transform Lives Through Communication as a Speech Language Pathologist in Washington's Scenic Wonderlands

Imagine the fulfillment found in helping others articulate their thoughts and reclaim their voices. In the vibrant city of Tacoma, Washington, your role as a Speech Language Pathologist will be more than a career; it will be a mission to facilitate communication, restore independence, and enhance the joy of human interaction among individuals of all ages. From lively children mastering their first sentences to elderly patients reclaiming their ability to express wishes and needs, your work will resonate across generations.

This position offers an exciting chance to engage with a diverse clientele in a dynamic setting that marries outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient support. If you thrive on working with children in their developmental stages, adults facing neurogenic disorders, or seniors who require cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you will uncover a sense of purpose and structure in our adaptable work environment.

Assess patients across various demographics, employing standardized tests and observational methods.

Craft individualized treatment strategies that target immediate goals as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.

Deliver tailored speech therapy sessions focused on language, communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing proficiency.

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, and family members, to form comprehensive care plans.

Provide critical education to patients and family members to encourage progress outside of clinical encounters.

Assist in inpatient evaluations and treatment, ensuring seamless continuity in patient care throughout their therapeutic journey.

Keep meticulous and timely records which comply with regulatory standards.

Engage in ongoing learning and collaboration with peers to stay abreast of advancements in the field.

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.

Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) prior to ASHA certification if applicable.

Active state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be secured within 30 days of hire.

Mastery of evidence-based treatment strategies relevant to diverse age groups, with an in-depth understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing conditions.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on communication among patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to adapt therapy vocabularies and techniques in consideration of cultural and linguistic diversity.

Strong clinical reasoning and analytical problem-solving aptitude.

Familiarity with electronic medical records and standards of documentation.

Competitive compensation aligned with experience.

Flexible work schedules to promote work-life harmony and diverse caseloads.

Specialization opportunities in pediatric, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.

Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.

Options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

Reimbursement for continuing education and extensive support for professional growth.

A team-oriented environment committed to quality care and continuous learning.

In your role here, you won't merely provide therapy; you will be a vital thread in a fabric of community-focused efforts designed to rekindle voices, foster communication, and cultivate moments of happiness through the simplest acts of connection.

You will collaborate with professionals who regard each other as extended family, in an environment that values cooperation over competition. Each patient has an intricate story awaiting your expertise to help narrate it effectively.

Tacoma is imbued with a spirit that harmonizes urban excitement with outdoor adventures. Surrounded by stunning vistas, including picturesque mountains and tranquil waterfronts, this city is a magnet for individuals seeking a fulfilling lifestyle enriched with both cultural vibrancy and natural beauty.

Families and friends congregate at community parks for concerts and outdoor eateries, while nature enthusiasts revel in hiking scenic trails, exploring waterfront parks, or visiting exquisite gardens and museums. Culinary adventurers will relish the local food scene, from artisanal coffee at neighborhood cafes to innovative dining experiences hosted by local chefs.

Art and culture thrive here, seen in the thriving arts community, eclectic galleries, and various festivals that gather individuals from a myriad of backgrounds. Financially, Tacoma offers advantages too: a low cost of living, no state income tax, and a flourishing healthcare sector that keeps professional spirits buoyant.

Whether you're embarking on your career or looking to stretch your wings, Tacoma provides the perfect stage for both personal and professional evolvement.

We are searching for a compassionate Speech Language Pathologist who is as committed to empathetic care as they are to measurable outcomes. Someone who observes a shy child and envisions their potential for self-expression, who listens to the hesitant speech of a recovering stroke patient and perceives their resolve to communicate again.

This may be your opportunity if you are a pediatric professional looking to broaden your skillset to include adults or vice versa. Whatever draws you to our community, if you are ready to serve with passion and lead with expertise, we are excited to welcome you.

If you resonate with the belief that speech transcends mere words and that therapy embodies trust-building, laughter, and understanding — then this may just be the pivotal point in your career journey.

Join us in a welcoming community that cherishes communication, camaraderie, and the bravery needed to begin anew. Apply today to share your expertise with our team and help empower others to find their uniqueness in expression.
