Job description

Speech Language Pathologist SLP / Therapist

Transform Lives Through Communication in the Beautiful Chesapeake – Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us!

Discover Your Calling

What if the next chapter in your career not only enhanced lives but also gave a voice to the silenced? As a Speech Language Pathologist nestled in the picturesque setting of Chesapeake, your mission will encompass more than just addressing speech and swallowing challenges. You will pave the way for self-expression, instill confidence, and foster meaningful bonds — bridging the gap between young children saying their first words and older adults regaining their independence.

This position offers the distinct chance to support a diverse clientele throughout their life stages. Here, you can immerse yourself in outpatient therapy while also providing essential inpatient support on occasion. Whether your expertise lies in pediatric language acquisition, adult communication rehabilitation, or geriatric cognitive therapies, you will find a nurturing and flexible environment to thrive in.

Your Responsibilities

Assess patients from all age groups, employing standardized evaluations and hands-on observations to gauge their needs.

Create customized therapy plans that meet both short-term milestones and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.

Deliver focused speech therapy sessions, emphasizing language, communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing techniques.

Engage with other healthcare experts—physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and families—to cultivate cohesive care strategies.

Provide educational resources to patients and families to bolster progress outside the therapy space.

Conduct occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions to maintain a seamless continuum of care throughout the recovery process.

Document progress accurately and timely, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.

Stay abreast of industry developments through ongoing education and interaction with fellow professionals.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending.

Certifications

Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.

What You'll Need

Skillful use of evidence-based therapeutic methods for individuals across ages, with a profound comprehension of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Outstanding communication abilities that resonate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Flexibility in adapting therapy methods to cater to the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of patients.

Strong clinical assessment, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with electronic documentation and healthcare records.

What We Offer

Competitive salary reflecting your experience.

Flexibility in scheduling to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Chances to specialize in segments such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.

Generous paid time off and holiday compensation.

Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance choices.

Financial support for continuing education and professional advancement.

A collaborative workplace committed to quality care and lifelong growth.

A Journey That Nourishes Your Soul and Career

In this role, you're not merely delivering therapy; you're part of a heartfelt mission to amplify voices, enhance communication, and create moments of joy through the simplest yet profound acts of human connection.

Within a team environment that emphasizes kinship over competition, you will have the opportunity to help patients share their unique narratives and experiences. We view every individual's story with respect, entrusting you with the responsibility to help shape its telling.
