Job description
Speech Language Pathologist
USD 232 welcomes approximately 7,500 students each day (Early Childhood through grade 12) at 13 campuses, with seven elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and Cedar Trails Exploration Center. Our district encompasses an area of nearly 100 square miles in northwest Johnson County and draws from the communities of De Soto, Shawnee, Lenexa, a portion of Olathe, and unincorporated areas of the county.
The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students according to their individualized education plan. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of USD 232.
Supervision: School Principal, Director of Special Education or designee
Salary: according to current certified salary schedule

Master's degree from an accredited college/university
Qualifications:
Current Kansas Speech Pathologist License on file with the district
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) through ASHA or plan to obtain through completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CF)
Fluent English speaker
Clear and completed background check
Clear and completed TB test
Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
Physical:
Requires regular attendance and/or presence at the job
Occasional stooping, bending and reaching.
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, push, and/or pull heavy objects
Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
Job Duties:
Provide instruction, support and assistance with students' adaptive and daily living skills, as needed, including toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, dressing, mobility and other self-care needs, while promoting student dignity, safety and independence.
Medicaid billing
Assist in development of student's IEP and implementation
Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
Ensure that all activities conform to district and cooperative guidelines.
Communicate effectively with members of the school district and community.
Work effectively with community organizations.
Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
Support the philosophy and mission of the school district.
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of the content area
Manage student behavior, establish classroom procedures and protocols, and maintain student discipline according to school and USD 232 policies
Use relevant technology to support instruction and student learning
Provide appropriate and timely feedback
Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
Communicate effectively and timely with all stakeholders
Maintain appropriate licensure
Update and complete all necessary reports
Regular attendance for the position
Maintain confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA
Demonstrate professionalism
Demonstrates collaboration
