Job Description
Position Overview
New York City Children's Center (NYCCC), Bronx Campus, is seeking a qualified and New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech and language services to children and adolescents. The selected candidate will work as part of the facility's treatment team and provide clinical services in accordance with NYCCC policies, applicable documentation requirements, and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and related clinical evaluations for children and adolescents.
• Develop appropriate treatment plans based on individual patient needs and clinical findings.
• Provide speech and language therapy and monitor patient progress.
• Document evaluations, treatment plans, therapy sessions, and patient progress in accordance with the Uniform Case Record and NYCCC policies.
• Provide consultation and professional guidance to facility staff regarding speech and language needs.
• Participate effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Collaborate and interact professionally with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Perform other speech-language pathology duties related to patient care as assigned by the facility.
• Complete required HIPAA/HITECH and other mandated training established by OMH and/or the facility.
• Wear the facility-issued identification badge visibly at all times while performing assigned duties.
• Adhere to all applicable NYCCC, OMH, and facility policies and procedures.
Schedule & Work Hours
• The assignment will require approximately 15-20 hours per week, with a maximum of 1,040 hours annually.
• Facility operating hours are 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Scheduling is flexible and may be mutually arranged between the facility and the selected Speech-Language Pathologist based on operational and candidate availability.
• Overtime is not required.
• No travel is required.
• Work on NYS holidays is not required.
Minimum Qualifications
• Valid New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Direct clinical experience providing speech-language services to children and/or adolescents.
• Demonstrated ability to perform patient evaluations, treatment planning, therapy, documentation, and clinical consultation.
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment environment.
• Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and patient-care skills.
Clearance & Onboarding Requirements
Candidates must complete the required clearance documentation. The first four mandatory forms must be completed prior to interview, while the Health Clearance Form will be required for the selected candidate.
Mandatory forms include:
1. On-Boarding Application
2. Staff Exclusion List Form
3. LDSS-3370 (SCR) Form
4. State Central Child Abuse Register Certification Status Form
5. Health Clearance Form - required for the selected candidate
The selected candidate will also be required to complete applicable facility/OMH onboarding and mandated training requirements before commencing services.
