Overview
NYTech's College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a Speech Pathologist who will provide direct service to patients with communication and swallowing disorders at the Long Island (Old Westbury, NY) campus.
Responsibilities
Provide treatment of patients according to accepted standards of clinical practice and applicable insurance guidelines.
Evaluate patients using accepted standard of clinical practice and assessment batteries appropriate to the patient’s diagnosis.
Write comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing reports that are sent to the referring physician.
Complete daily notes and progress reports in a timely manner.
Function as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Actively participate in the process of patient, family and staff education/counseling.
Treat individuals with Parkinson’s disease using modification of the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program or Speak Out! Program; additional therapies include speech, language, cognitive linguistics, dysphagia, and voice.
Attend clinical rounds, departmental meetings, and care plan meetings and report patient status and progress in accordance with facility standards.
Maintain annual continuing education requirements for clinical practice.
Qualifications
Master’s degree with a major in speech‑language pathology.
Certificate of clinical competence and licensure granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Required field of expertise in Neurological Rehabilitation; preferred expertise in Geriatric Rehabilitation.
Health and Wellness Certification preferred.
Competent in creating hand and wrist splints and in recommending and educating about adaptive equipment for facilitation of activities in daily living.
CPR Certification preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred.

USD $50.00–$53.00 per hour.
