Job description

Numerical Control ProgrammerThis role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit's Defense Business Unit ("Spirit Defense"). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities:Location: Wichita, KSKey AccountabilitiesProvides knowledge of numerical control, machining, and programming techniques.Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis of NC programs to ensure validation and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements and specifications.Analyze blueprints, engineering models, and electronic controls to support NC programmingWork with NC programmers to optimize or modify programs as requiredAbility to collaborate in a team environmentValidates fabrication, assembly, or installation manufacturing plans by coordinating with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams.Knowledge to develop tooling, interchangeability, replacement, and functional test plans.Using the established manufacturing process flow, defines sequences of events, develops text and graphics work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bills of material.Communicate with cross-functional teams to influence and clarify design concepts.Coordinates change incorporation, optimizes processes, and addresses producibility issues as well as production & post-production problems.Has the ability to demonstrate configuration control of the hardware, within the manufacturing build plan.QualificationsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US CitizenshipCandidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearanceSuccessful candidates must be able to secure Program access approvalEmployment start date would be determined based upon program need and obtaining clearanceAbility to apply process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Composite non-metallic, Electrical/Electronics, Machining, Sheet metal, Systems and Structures3-5 years of professional experience in numerical control (NC) programming and/or experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or familiarization with basic quality principles in an aerospace manufacturing environment.GD&T Fundamentals Based on ASME Y14.5Ability to provide inspection media to QA to perform measurement using CMM, Laser Trackers, and Articulating Arms for detail part inspection.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with multiple material types.Frequent interaction with internal personnel in the manufacturing environment and occasionally with inter-organizational personnel and external customers.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.Strong skills in PC-DMIS, Metrolog, Polyworks, Verisurf, CAPPS-NC and/ or Spatial Analyzer softwareStrong skills in Microsoft Office, especially with ExcelStrong knowledge of SAPCATIA / ENOVI A/ 3DX/ NX / VericutBeyond Compare/ Notepad ++Understanding of the master scheduling requirementsAbility to take a project from start to finishWillingness to work cross-functionallyAssociate or bachelor's degree preferred but not required, subject to experience in Aerospace, Quality, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or other related course of study a plus but not required.Six Sigma Green Belt, other LEAN certification, or experience
