Sr. ASIC RTL Design Engineer, AI Hardware
The Tesla AI Hardware team is pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence through innovative hardware solutions, focusing on the design and development of AI inference chips that enhance Tesla's machine learning capabilities. This includes the Dojo supercomputer, which trains extensive neural networks using data from Tesla's fleet, supporting technologies like Full Self-Driving (FSD) and the Optimus humanoid robot. The team is dedicated to creating custom silicon and optimized architectures to maintain Tesla's leadership in AI-driven automotive and energy solutions.
Responsibilities:
Implement and document microarchitecture specifications.
Define system-level functional requirements.
Deliver high-quality RTL design to meet project targets.
Design microarchitecture and RTL for accelerators, memory, and network subsystems.
Collaborate with architecture and software teams to achieve design goals.
Balance performance, power, safety, and cost requirements.
Conduct trade-offs among functional, physical, and performance requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams, including implementation, verification, and performance engineers.
Design for synthesis.
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
5 or more years of industry experience.
Experience with IEEE floating point is a plus.
Experience with RTL design across specialties such as SoC, CPU, and GPU.
Skills:
High performance (low latency, high bandwidth) design techniques.
Area and power-efficient complex RTL design.
Low power microarchitecture techniques.
Experience with simulators and waveform debug tools.
Knowledge of logic design principles, including timing and power implications.
