Position: SR. CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR Location: 19775 Belmont Executive Plaza Suite 200 Ashburn, VA Job Id: 1420 # of Openings: 1 TITLE: PRECONSTRUCTION + ESTIMATION SR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
LOCATION: Ashburn, VA
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Preconstruction Senior Construction Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial framework and feasibility of cutting-edge data center construction initiatives. Your expertise will be relied upon for developing detailed cost estimates, rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates, and comprehensive cost budgets that underpin the successful execution of large-scale design-build, capacity recapture and white space fit-out projects.
ESSENTIAL DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and thoroughly evaluate RFP/RFQ documents to understand project requirements and expectations.
Read, interpret, and assess construction design documents and detailed specifications for accuracy and completeness.
Participate in site walks to gain firsthand knowledge of project scope and evaluate constructability aspects.
Identify potential project risks and challenges during the scope creation process and propose mitigation strategies.
Generate both rough order of magnitude and formal estimates for prospective projects, ensuring precision and clarity.
Assist in the development and compilation of proposal documents for competitive bidding processes.
Maintain accurate bid documents for reference and future use following contract awards.
Develop and nurture relationships with both existing and new suppliers and subcontractors to support project success.
Host project kickoff meetings to facilitate smooth project handoffs to the project management team.
Oversee the subcontractor and supplier submittal processes as required for preconstruction workflow.
Identify and propose additional revenue opportunities for the organization, as applicable.
Collaborate closely with personnel from sales, engineering, project management, and finance to ensure alignment and clarity throughout the preconstruction process.
Support the management of the preconstruction team, contributing leadership and mentorship within the team and technical insight.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
8+ years of specific data center experience with WSFO/ TFO, Capacity Recapture is preferred over core and shell/ general construction estimating.
Construction Cost Management or Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent
15 years of experience in construction estimating/cost control field, with specific knowledge of MEP and ASC cost elements
Demonstrated experience working within and building or expanding estimating or cost control standards/programs across a large organization
Ability to discern critical path and trade partners work sequencing to understand and/ or build Precon opportunity schedules with P6, MS Project.
Ability to interpret contract terms, conditions, and exhibits as applicable to project requirements
Windows power user skill set, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and estimating software such as Trimble/ Accubid and RSMeans

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience developing and explaining/articulating budgets
Ability to create and maintain processes for project documentation and departmental workflow.
Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability
Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and be able to maintain high-quality professional standards.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Occasionally move objects 10-50lbs.
Occasionally perform site walk surveys.
