Senior Design Manager

The Senior Design Manager is responsible for design phase management, on multiple projects, with a primary focus on mitigation of design risk.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000 annually (companywide)

You are immediately 100% vested in all contributions (including BNB match). We provide both traditional (pre-tax) and Roth (post-tax) contribution options.

We are proud to be an employee-owned company. This means you get an ownership stake in BNB through a benefit called an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). It's 100% company-funded and is invested in BNBuilders stock. You can participate in this long-term plan after you complete 1 year of service (with at least 1,000 hours).

Vehicle/vehicle allowance, fuel card, and toll pass.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee design management efforts with the company.

Lead and oversee design phase management efforts on multiple projects or a large, multi-phase project.

Coordinate the efforts of Design Manager(s) and other team members as needed.

Oversee design services (from pursuits and initial design through completion of construction (or as needed)) to ensure appropriate delivery of services and mitigate design risk.

Participate in design phase meetings as needed.

Interface with the design team as needed.

Lead continuous cost/scope/schedule reconciliation processes.

Oversee design document reviews for completeness and conformance with project requirements.

Oversee the identification, engagement, and coordination of peer reviews for special systems where determined to be necessary.

Oversee the coordination of design-assist, design-build, self-perform, and trade subcontractor participation with the design and build team to ensure timely input and preparation of trade documents, as necessary.

Oversee the coordination of design with preparation of bid packages to support schedule and construction.

Oversee contractual compliance reviews that shall identify deviations and assist in obtaining necessary approvals.

Work with and lead companywide efforts to continually improve Design Management including all phases of work.

Mentor and lead Design Managers, and any other team members to become stronger, more knowledgeable individuals who will lead the company to more success.

Local and cross-regional travel is required.

Perform other related duties as assigned in support of business needs and the essential functions of the role.

Qualifications:

Minimum four-year bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study.

Licensed Architect or Engineer preferred.

LEED Accredited Professional (AP) preferred.

15+ years of experience in design and construction.

Minimum 15 years of extensive experience working in all phases of design.

Minimum 10 years of design phase management experience.

Experience with Design/Build delivery required.

Knowledge of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) desired.

Proficient in CADD, Revit, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project.

Capable of traversing over construction-type terrain when under development; moving through the construction site and the materials in place for use on the site; climbing ladders and temporary stairways; conducting visual inspections of quality of construction and materials being used in construction. Conduct jobsite walks to ensure successful project completion. Conduct jobsite walks to identify and eliminate safety hazards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the job site. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
