Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is a statewide, immigrant and refugee-led collaboration. Our mission is to build power, amplify our voices, and organize communities to advocate for our rights. Our vision is a stronger, more inclusive Tennessee where people of all nationalities, immigration statuses, and racial identities can belong and thrive.

TIRRC has a sister organization, TIRRC Votes, a separate nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although TIRRC and TIRRC Votes share a common goal of building power for immigrants and refugees in Tennessee, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. Certain employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, share their time between the two organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership and oversight for campaigns, organizing, advocacy, and communications initiatives, ensuring high-quality design, implementation, and impact

Drive alignment, coordination, and clarity across advocacy, organizing, and communications to deliver cohesive, high-impact programs and campaigns that advance ambitious goals and build power for Tennessee’s immigrant communities

Lead, manage, and coach program directors and other staff, ensuring clear roles, accountability, and alignment with organizational priorities

Work with senior leadership to foster collaboration, synchronization, and clear lines of communication with organizing, advocacy, and communications;

Lead the creation and rollout of new program initiatives, including defining goals, timelines, and success indicators

Ensure campaigns are mission-aligned, community-centered, responsive to emerging needs and opportunities, and grounded in realistic political and power analyses

Oversee the development and execution of local, state, and federal program initiatives, including campaign strategy and implementation

Ensure timely completion of all programmatic deliverables, including grant-related outcomes and reporting requirements.

Partnerships & External Engagement

Guide and manage strategic external partnerships to advance TIRRC’s mission and programmatic goals

Serve as key media spokesperson on the campaigns, policy advocacy, organizing efforts, and other organizational priorities

Represent TIRRC with funders, partners, coalitions, and community stakeholders as needed;

Participate in fundraising efforts by contributing campaign expertise, strategy, and impact narratives

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every position at TIRRC, every person in the organization will assist their colleagues to ensure a cooperative environment and respond to the needs of the moment. This job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity. Essential and marginal job functions are subject to modification. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING

You possess a deep-rooted commitment to social justice and civic engagement, and you aren’t afraid of tough fights. With a background in building power within member-centered organizations, you don’t just understand the mission, you have a proven track record of integrating racial justice principles and cultural competency into every level of your work.

Strategic Operations & Program Expert

You are a "big picture" thinker who excels at the granular level. With over 5 years of program experience, you’re skilled at designing, planning, and executing programs. You navigate fast-paced environments by balancing strategic foresight with a disciplined approach to deadlines and organizational detail.

Seasoned People & Team Manager

With at least 2 years in a leadership position, you drive results across multiple teams. You know how to manage diverse departments, foster accountability, and maintain transparent communication, ensuring that different arms of an organization move in sync toward shared goals.

Emotionally Intelligent Collaborator & Communicator

You are a relationship builder. Whether you are public speaking, facilitating a group, or navigating sensitive internal matters, you use your emotional intelligence to influence outcomes. You can work with a high degree of independence while remaining a deeply collaborative partner to cross-functional teams.

SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE

Salary Range: $90,000-$118,000 depending on experience with relocation support available.

Benefits: Full-time TIRRC employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of the medical employee premium covered by TIRRC, participate in a 401K retirement plan, and receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program.
