The Sr. Director, Project Management is a senior delivery executive responsible for overseeing the successful execution of a broad portfolio of large, complex, client-facing projects across the region. This individual provides strategic direction, leadership, and accountability for a team of project management professionals, including Program Executives, Project Directors, and Project Management Team Leads. The role ensures delivery excellence through strong governance, client engagement, talent development, and cross-functional coordination. This leader partners closely with the PMO, which provides standardized tools, reporting, and processes aligned with the PMI framework.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Project Portfolio Leadership

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of external client projects across North America.

Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting quality standards and client expectations.

Drive accountability and ownership across the project leadership team to manage scope, schedules, financial performance, and risk.

Team Leadership and Development

Directly manage and support a team of senior delivery professionals, including Program Executives, Project Directors, and PM Team Leads.

Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities to grow high-performing project teams.

Ensure appropriate staffing and succession planning across the project delivery function.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as an executive point of contact for key clients, helping to ensure satisfaction, address escalations, and maintain long-term relationships.

Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to align delivery strategies with business objectives and client commitments.

Delivery Governance and Collaboration with PMO

Work in partnership with the Director, PMO to enforce and improve project governance, delivery standards, tools, and performance metrics.

Support portfolio reporting, capacity planning, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational and Financial Performance

Monitor and manage portfolio-level KPIs, including on-time delivery, budget adherence, margin performance, and resource utilization.

Support commercial negotiations and contract adherence in collaboration with Legal and Finance.

Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project success or client relationships.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (must be able to be ascertained from the resume):

12+ years of progressive experience in project management and delivery leadership

5+ years leading a team of senior project leaders (Program Executives, Project Directors, etc.)

PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials

Demonstrated success in managing large, complex project portfolios in client-facing environments

Strong command of PMI standards, project financials, and delivery governance

Executive-level leadership and team development

Strategic portfolio oversight and decision-making

Strong client relationship and negotiation skills

High resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Deep understanding of project controls and financial management

Collaborative approach to cross-functional leadership and problem-solving

Operational rigor with a continuous improvement mindset

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field

Other Qualifications Desired:

Master’s degree (MBA, MPM, or related discipline)

Experience in engineering, automation, or supply chain consulting

Familiarity with Agile, hybrid delivery models, and technology-driven projects

Background in professional services or systems integration environments
