The role

AMD Datacenter Firmware team is currently looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer who is passionate about Server products and would like to be part of our EPYC journey to transform the x86 server market. In this role, you will design, develop, and debug low‑level firmware that enables next‑generation hardware platforms. You’ll work closely with silicon, hardware, and system engineering partners to deliver robust, secure, and high‑performance BIOS/UEFI solutions.

The person

The successful candidate brings a blend of deep technical skill and strong cross‑team collaboration. You should be comfortable representing BIOS/firmware considerations with architects, developers, validation teams, and customer‑facing engineering groups.

You can clearly articulate design intent, explain complex problems, and drive solutions across multiple engineering disciplines. Strong organization and a proactive approach to identifying, communicating, and resolving issues will be key to success.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain UEFI/BIOS firmware for new hardware platforms

Analyze, triage, and resolve customer‑reported or validation‑found firmware issues

Contribute to design reviews, provide technical feedback, and support internal development best practices

UEFI/EDKII BIOS development experience mandatory

C and ASM programming experience mandatory

Desire to work and excel in fast‑paced and highly dynamic environments

Preferred experience

5+ years of experience developing UEFI/BIOS firmware

Strong proficiency in C programming and familiarity with assembly (x86 preferred)

Hands‑on experience with EDK2/UEFI PI, ACPI, PCIe, memory initialization, and BIOS boot flows

Knowledge of server BIOS architecture encouraged

Knowledge of software development process methodology expected

Strong analytical skills and debug methodology required

Proficient with source version control systems like Git or GitHub and code review tools like Gerrit

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Academic credentials

Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
