This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. This role is a part of the zero-g propellant management team. The team is rethinking how space systems are designed, with a high-performance architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid design iteration. We are looking for a Senior Cryogenic Responsible Engineer with experience developing and manufacturing cryogenic propellant management devices.You will provide technical oversight, requirement development, manufacturing support and hardware ownership on our most challenging cryogenic technical problems. As part of your role you will own hardware from cradle to grave and be responsible for delivering your hardware to the vehicle. Work will include the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation.You will work with both internal and external suppliers to design, build, test and analyze components that will take us to the moon!Bring your technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Define, own, and control the liquid subsystem technical baseline, performing technical work and providing technical leadership of the highest caliber.

Manage internal and external procurements and internal hardware dependencies required to meet subsystem deliveries.

Lead and perform technical trades on cryogenic systems that meet vehicle and customer needs

Own hardware drawing release, manufacturing plan development, manufacturing support and integration onto the vehicle

Lead internal and external cryogenic technological development meetings

Cradle-to-grave ownership of cryogenic system

Qualifications:

B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area

8+ years of experience in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components

Experience developing, integrating and certifying aerospace systems for flight

Experience with fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels and instrumentation

Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies

Experience leading small teams and subcontractor teams to accomplish objectives

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area

Cryogenic fluids experience

Human rated space vehicle experience

Work with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred).

Experience with upper stages and spacecraft

Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion and fluid system

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Stock Options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week)
