Job description
Sr. Project AccountantThe Senior Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.Position DetailsCompiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements for more complex accounts.Monitors budgets and commitments, processing subcontractor and vendor invoices, preparing drafts of owner invoices, and resolving issues.Partners with the project manager and other team members to monitor overall job financial status.Collaborates by preparing for and attending progress and division meetings.Prepares monthly reports with current estimates and identifies risks or opportunities.Prepares special analyses as required.Serves as mentor and provides training to or supervise less-experienced Project Accountants.QualificationsExcellent accounting knowledgeExcellent organization skills with high level of attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skills; able to transfer knowledge to junior level staffExcellent ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressureExcellent to analyze and resolve difficult issuesExcellent ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretionExcellent computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc. requiredAbility to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environmentAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent preferred5+ years of Project Accounting experience preferredExperience in construction preferredBenefitsAs a 100% employee-owned company, we offer a comprehensive benefits package for you and your family:401(k) plan with 50% company match (no cap) and immediate 100% vestingMedical, dental, and vision insurance (100% paid for employee)Annual bonus program based upon performance, achievement, and company profitabilityTerm life, AD&D insurance, and voluntary life insuranceDisability income protection insurancePre-tax flexible spending plans (health and dependent care)Paid parental leavePaid holidays, vacation, and personal timeTraining/professional development opportunities and company-paid memberships for professional associations and licensesWellness benefitsPay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Maryland this ranges from $99,427.00 - $117,504.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.Contingent Employment: All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks.
