Job description

Quality Engineering LeaderAmazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.We're seeking an exceptional Quality Engineering Leader with AS9100 experience who will drive innovation and excellence in aviation terminal production. In this pivotal role, you'll be the strategic architect of quality management, solving complex technical challenges and ensuring manufacturing precision that meets the highest aviation standards. You will be directly responsible for the production process development, introduction, & production of the aircraft unit, phased array based antenna that closes the link to carry aircraft data to and from a Leo satellite. You may also be responsible for quality control for the aircraft certification of structural changes and additions needed to install the antenna system that must be approved by the certifying authority (FAA/EASA) commonly referred to as the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).Key job responsibilities:Orchestrate comprehensive quality management system processes for aviation terminal productionLead and mentor quality inspection teams to implement proactive quality assurance strategiesDevelop and implement advanced quality control methodologiesGuide continuous improvement initiatives using statistical process control techniquesFacilitate root cause investigations and corrective action implementations in coordination with the respective engineering teamsManage complex quality containment activitiesSupport operations through strategic problem-solving and technical leadershipExport Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.A day in the life:Your day will be a dynamic blend of technical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic quality improvement. We value transparent communication, empathetic collaboration, and the ability to balance complex trade-offs between quality, cost, and schedule.Basic Qualifications:Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test proceduresBachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalentExperience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teamsExperience in technical support, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalentExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to productionExperience with the project management of technical projectsExperience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership4+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experienceAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
