Job description
At First Student, finances are the fuel that keeps our company moving. We're looking for a qualified Sr Regional Accountant to help keep our figures on track with unwavering accuracy. The ideal candidate will have natural passion for accounting and intricate knowledge of assets, liabilities, profit and loss and other financial transactions within an organization. The Sr Regional Accountant will play an important support role, clarifying the financial outlook of our company. Major Responsibilities
nnnSupport monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of operational management accounts.

nnProvide support for general-ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and correct errors made by internal and external personnel.
n
nnCollect data from field and region personnel and perform research in order to calculate and maintain appropriate accrual balances.
n
nnAssist in providing schedules and commentary for operational management account results and variances, and for the production of working-capital cash-flow reports.
n
nnMaintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.
n
nnPrepare special financial reports, when requested by senior managers, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

nnOperate with a continuous improvement mindset.

n nMinimum Experience or Skills Required
nnnBachelor's degree in Accounting
n
nnMinimum 5 experience, preferably in transportation or service industries with multiple locations.
n
nnKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
n
nnMicrosoft Office proficient with experience in Excel (eg, VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, Data validation).
n
nnAbility to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively.
n
nnAbility to maintain confidentiality of company information.
n
nnAbility to travel up-to 10%

n nLanguage Requirement
nThis role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
