Position Description:
Optum is looking for an experienced and inquisitive Senior UX Designer to help us make a meaningful impact on how medical professionals make consistent, evidence-based decisions. This is one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of product design and we therefore focus on large amounts of interaction with clinicians such as doctors, nurses, and many other healthcare roles. We are seeking someone who loves to understand user needs and workflows to create informed and targeted designs. This role partners closely with user researchers run 1 or 2 user studies per month. This means a constant inflow of information to make designs effective and desirable.
This position will work closely with a product manager, user researchers, and our team of clinicians to understand healthcare, business, and user needs. They will positively impact the overall flow and design while following a user-centered design process. This person will partner with user interface designers, other UX designers, web developers and UX managers to translate information architecture, navigation and process flows into easy-to-use and aesthetically beautiful solutions.
Required Qualifications:
• 5 years of visual/graphic design, interaction design and user-centered design
• Experience designing for mobile and/or responsive web.
• Strong portfolio of past UX/IA projects including task flows, site maps, wireframes
• In-depth experience with Figma or Sketch.
• Ability to create clean, visually consistent designs.
• Ability to present complex designs and concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences at various levels.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design requests in a timely fashion, with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience in creating wireframe designs, visual graphics, interactive mockups, user workflows, and prototypes suitable for usability testing.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team and internal clients.
• Ability to receive and provide design critique with a team of designers.
• Experience working with Agile methodology.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher with a focus in graphic design, interaction design, product design, cognitive psychology, or related discipline.
• Experience with enterprise software and healthcare domain.
• Involvement in the UX community (e.g. meet-ups, clubs, conferences).
• Knowledge of user interaction analytics and measurements.
• Experience in practical application of accessibility factors, per ADA Section 508 requirements and W3C WAI guidelines.
• Experience in group facilitation, user interviews, heuristic evaluations, task analysis, and usability testing.
