Job description
Preferred Risk Insurance Services is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role supports key accounting functions including accounts payable, monthly commission processing, account reconciliations, journal entries, month‑end close activities, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
Maintain the centralized Accounts Payable email inbox.
Maintain payables within the Airbase Expense & Spend Platform, including invoice processing, payment workflow management, vendor maintenance, and resolution of outstanding items.
Prepare and distribute vendor payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain organized Accounts Payable records and documentation.
Commission Processing
Assist with the monthly agent commission process.
Generate, sort, and distribute commission statements.
Respond to agent inquiries regarding commission payments and statements.
General Accounting
Prepare and enter journal entries.
Assist with month‑end close and financial reporting activities.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and related analysis.
Maintain and reconcile intercompany receivable and payable accounts.
Support Accounts Receivable activity for the in‑house Printing Department.
Assist with annual 1099 preparation and maintenance.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested.
Support special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
1-3 years of accounting, accounts payable, or related experience.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Estimated Compensation Range: $18/hr.-$27/hr.*
*Published ranges are estimates. Offered compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
