Our client, a retail chain of home improvement and agriculture stores, is seeking a Staff Accountant for a 6 month contract position in Brentwood, TN. This role is hybrid with 2-3 days per week onsite, with heavier onsite presence for training.

Day to Day:
This position is responsible for applying accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions in support of a complete and accurate financial close cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare standard and specialized journal entries and financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements.
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts. Document business transactions.
Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
Prepare journal entries in support of expense allocations, accruals, and other routine financial transactions.
Post and validate general ledger activity reports to the company's internal website.
Research and respond to inquiries from store support center (SSC) team members as well as store, and distribution center (DC) personnel about the accuracy of journal entries and financial reports.
Must Haves:
1-2 years of general accounting experience.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office is preferred.
Deadline driven
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field.
Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferences:
SAP experience preferred.
Blackline experience preferred.
Experience in a retail environment is preferred. xqrzhdi
Professional Certifications: Interest in obtaining Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
Pay Rate- $28.34- $29.36/hour
