Job description
Staff Accountant
LHH is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing manufacturing company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, and supporting tax, reporting, and compliance functions. This position is Direct Hire (permanent placement) and is 100% onsite in Hebron Kentucky. Pay will range between $65K and $80K annually.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
Support inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations and cost analysis.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and preparing schedules.
Prepare financial reports and management reporting packages.
Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting concepts.
Experience preparing or reviewing sales and use tax filings.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
