About This Role
The Staff Nurse in the Med/Surg Private Unit at Mount Sinai West is responsible for providing comprehensive care to assigned patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, and intervention. This part-time night position is ideal for nurses who excel in collaborative environments and are committed to patient education and discharge planning.

Schedule: Part-Time, Night shift (7pm to 7:30am)
What You'll Do
Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records.
Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
Plan discharge consistent with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
Communicate information to patients based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
Support orientation of new staff members by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
Organize patient care assignments reflecting patient needs and personnel skill levels.
Communicate patient conditions requiring additional intervention to leadership.
Participate in the development of other staff members.
Reflect collaborative efforts in meeting patient and unit needs through communication.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) RN who is matriculated in a BSN Program with a graduation date within the year
Experience:
Documented previous experience or educational preparation to support credentials
Licenses & Certifications:
Current RN License in New York
BCLS certification required
ACLS certification required for specific departments
PALS certification required for specific departments
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certificate required for specific departments
