An opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacist to provide critical support in a high-paced retail pharmacy setting. This contract assignment is based in a community-focused location in Illinois, offering a consistent first-shift schedule that supports work-life balance.

Galena, Illinois
Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday
9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
1st shift
Role Overview: This 8-week contract position involves ensuring the safe and efficient dispensation of medications under the direct supervision of the pharmacy manager. The pharmacist will counsel patients on their medication regimens, handle inquiries, and maintain thorough records of stock and controlled drugs. This role requires effective problem-solving skills, especially regarding insurance and medication coverage.
Key Responsibilities: Dispensing medications accurately and safely.
Counseling patients on proper medication use and adherence.
Addressing patient concerns and responding to inquiries thoughtfully.
Maintaining inventory and controlled substance records efficiently.
Collaborating with a skilled pharmacy technician experienced in Pioneer software to ensure seamless pharmacy operations.
Qualifications: Active and clear Illinois pharmacist license.
Minimum of one year retail pharmacy experience.
Familiarity with Pioneer pharmacy software is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Additional Information: The pharmacy has a dedicated, experienced technician to support the pharmacist, enhancing workflow and efficiency. While this contract position is expected to last approximately eight weeks, there is potential for conversion to a permanent role, depending on fit and mutual interest.
