Job description
River's Edge Pharmacy has become a leader in infusion therapy services. Administered by specially trained infusion nurses, these services are provided at standalone locations, physicians' offices, or in the home of the patient. Each location provides individualized care in a private setting for procedures including IVIG, Hemophilia, Chemotherapy, TPN, and Pain Management.
Position Overview:
Perform functions to dispense prescription medications to patients in keeping with providers' prescription orders, provide expert counsel to patients regarding the safe use of prescription medications, and ensure that pharmacy prescription services are provided in compliance with regulatory, policy and procedure requirements for accuracy, safety, and security, while providing excellent customer service; making decisions based on precedent and working within the limits of established policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense and oversee the filling of prescriptions to ensure that each patient receives the medications exactly as prescribed by medical providers.
Ensure effective communications with providers, patients and associates to provide patient focused superior accuracy, safety and security.
Provide patient consultations regarding safe use and storage of prescription medications, relevant health factors, and to respond to inquiries. Consult with prescribing physicians as questions warrant.
Maintain effective communications with physicians, patients and manufacturer/HUB to foster enduring business relationships and build customer loyalty.
Check and pull medication recalls from manufacturers and upon Board of Pharmacy notification and maintain proper documentation.
Ensure IV rooms integrity by overseeing technician in cleaning, documenting of all temperatures and pressure logs, and responding to any temperature/pressure excursions.
Review and sign off technicians work of removing expired medications, cleaning agents and spill kits.
Assist with completing patient's assessments and prior authorizations as needed.
Assist with RX verifications as needed
Provide technical, policy, and regulatory guidance to pharmacy technicians to ensure that all medications are accurately dispensed, recorded, labeled and stored for pick up or delivery and that all reimbursements for prescription medications are accurately processed and recorded.
Assist Clinical team with prior authorizations and communication with insurance carriers.
Assist with the maintenance of work flow, assigning technicians and other pharmacy associates to tasks required to maintain order and ensure efficient, compliant pharmacy operation.
Monitor the receipt, recording, and organization of prescription medications arriving in the pharmacy.
Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure that pharmacy operations are in complete compliance with procedural, policy and regulatory requirements.
Maintain compliance of all regulations and accreditation bodies.
Assist with the clinical follow up of chronic specialty patients as applicable.
Drug utilization review of patient charts
In the absence of the PIC/manager/leader, this individual is authorized to act in that capacity.
Duties of Pharmacist with Out of State License: Ensure pharmacy is in compliance with all local, state and federal accrediting rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy for assigned state where the PIC holds a license.
Respond to the board regarding any notices issued by the Board
Provide technical, policy, and regulatory guidance to pharmacy technicians to ensure that all medications are accurately dispensed, recorded, labeled and stored for pick up or delivery and that all reimbursements for prescription medications are accurately processed and recorded.
Provide training to the pharmacy technicians on BOP laws and regulations related to applicable state.
Plus - may perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required: B.S. or Doctorate of Pharmacy degree
Active California pharmacist license in good standing
Must have prior experience with Specialty or Infusion pharmacy
Preferred: Doctorate in Pharmacy
1-2 or more years' experience with Specialty or Infusion Pharmacy
Skills & Competencies: Thorough knowledge of Specialty Pharmacy laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Working Conditions: Standard office and pharmacy environment
Full-time position with standard business hours; flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods is expected.
Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Salary: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
