Job description
A healthcare facility in Spokane, WA is seeking a licensed pharmacist for a 9-week contract position, starting August 3. This opportunity offers a mix of day and evening shifts Monday through Friday, with possible weekend rotations. The role is open to retail pharmacists and travelers willing to relocate or commute.
Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely.
Monitor patient medication compliance and usage patterns.
Ensure medication supply complies with legal regulations.
Verify the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously.
Advise patients on medication use, side effects, and answer related questions.
Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications including storage, dosage, and possible drug interactions.
Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following protocols.
Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to optimize patient care.
Qualifications/Desired Experience: Valid State of Washington pharmacist license.
Experience in retail pharmacy is welcome; training will be provided if needed.
Strong communication and supervisory skills.
Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and possibly weekends.
