Job description
A hospital-owned retail pharmacy seeks an experienced pharmacist to manage daily operations during a 12-week medical leave coverage period starting September 8th. This role offers an opportunity to work in a bustling community-focused environment that blends traditional retail pharmacy services with a welcoming gift and coffee shop setting.
Schedule and Location:
20 hours per week, ideally Tuesday and Wednesday (flexibility available)
7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. shifts with a 30-minute lunch break
Located in Valley Head, WV
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and direct pharmacy technicians and staff pharmacists
Verify and dispense medications, ensuring accuracy and safety
Manage inventory, medication stock, and maintain the formulary
Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations and documentation
Administer the 340B program, including regulatory compliance
Handle pharmacy billing, claims submission, and reconciliation
Utilize and maintain accuracy in electronic health records and pharmacy systems (training provided)
Support workflow and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Administer immunizations
Qualifications and Experience: Active and clear West Virginia pharmacy license required
Experience with Pioneer RX software preferred
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred but not required
Current CPR certification and immunization credential required
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
This role operates within a fast-paced environment processing roughly 4,000 prescriptions monthly and offers an engaging opportunity to deliver excellent patient care in a unique retail-hospital setting.
