nThe mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs to underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
nJOB SUMMARY :
nUnder the direction of the Director of Mental Health Services, this position provides direct psychiatric care to offenders assigned to outpatient facilities within the UTMB sector of Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
nnnProvides direct psychiatric care to assigned patients.
n
nnMay participate in civil commitment proceedings for mentally ill patients being released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
n
nnConducts psychiatric, physical and neurological examinations on assigned patients.
n
nnProvides clinical supervision to psychiatric mid level practitioners as assigned by the clinical director.
n
nnConducts and participates in due process proceedings for voluntary admission and compelled psychoactive medication.
n
nnWorks all assigned hours and complies with timekeeping regulations.
n
nnParticipates in psychiatry QI/QM program.
n
nnProvides emergency psychiatric call.
n
nnWorks effectively with all CMS and UR processes and personnel.
n
nnAdheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
n
nnPerforms related duties as required.
n
n nEQUIPMENT :
nStandard office equipment.
nWORK ENVIRONMENT :
nLocated within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
nREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
nnnMust hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
n
nnEligible for Board Certification in Psychiatry.
n
nnMust hold a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) controlled substances registration certification.
n
n nPREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
nnnTwo (2) years of experience.
n
nnExperience with digital medical utilization.
n
n nSalary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
