Job description
Sterile Processing TechnicianThe essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; performing cleaning and sterilizing duties of supplies and equipment and prepares them for use by the Hospital staff. Prepares case cart system for the Operating Room. Other functions that may be assigned.Casual employees may be required to work additional hours and/or a set schedule outside of the casual commitment of 4 shifts per month during the initial training period in order to become proficient in learning the position.Responsibilities Required EducationEducation: HIGHOther InformationSonic washer cleaned at end of shift Cleans loading carts. Cleans carts according to assignment Supply ordering Orders supplies from storeroom and pharmacy to meet established par levels and usage.Orders linen from laundry.Assists supervisor with special orders as needed.Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies Possesses an understanding of infection prevention and control measures designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.Maintains the standards of the infection prevention and control policies.Implements and maintains isolation techniques per policy.Follows hand hygiene policies and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.Other duties as assigned.Equivalent Experience and Other Comments (Education)Education: HIGHCredential: SPD CERT: Cert Sterile Process TechCertified in Sterile Processing (SPD Cert) preferred. If not certified, must complete certification within twenty-four months and maintain. If not certified, must have at least 1 year of experience in a Sterile Processing environment or have completed a Sterile Processing course.
