Per Diem Sterile Processing TechnicianOrthopedic Associates Surgery Center (OASC) is a busy outpatient surgery center seeking professional and energetic experienced Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician that can work second shift, 2:20pm-11pm.About Us: Our busy orthopedic ambulatory surgery center provides outpatient surgical procedures to Rocky Hill, CT and the surrounding communities. Key features include:Same-day total joint replacements, interventional procedures, and the full range of orthopedic surgeries.OASC has 7 extra-large operating rooms, and a procedure room equipped with the most advanced surgical camera systems, video streaming, robotic technology, and wireless connectivity.OASC's patient satisfaction ratings is over 95%!The Center utilizes the most advanced sterilization equipment and technology in the marketplace, allowing our center to keep infection rates near zeroBenefits: Competitive Salary Shift Differential Free parkingSummary:Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.Sorts sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.Maintains a clean work areaAssists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skillsOrthopedic experience preferredEducational Requirements:High school graduate or equivalent.Proficiency and understanding of medical terminology that accompanies the SPD department.Must have SPD certification.Experience:· Orthopedic experience preferred· Total Joint experience preferredLicensure/Certification:Sterile Processing & Distribution Certification.Special Working Conditions and Physical Demand:Standing or walking most of the day. Sufficient mobility and strength to move throughout department and lift heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushing and pulling sterilizer carriages, case carts and wire supply carts. Heavy lifting or bending associated with decontaminating soiled instruments, laundry placement and garbage from the Operating Room.May be exposed to blood, sharp objects, and infectious diseasesMay be required to wear personal protection equipment for lengthy periods of time.
