Growing together.Pay Range: $15.48 - $20.04General SummaryThe Sterilization Control is responsible for sterilizing instruments, supplies, and wrapping/storing these items until ready for use. This position distributes supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care. This position also cleans rooms ensuring a sterile atmosphere for surgery and patient care. They assemble both sterile and nonsterile equipment, as well as check and adjust it to ensure that it is working properly. The Sterilization Control will be responsible for monitoring recovery rooms, changing gauze after the patient's procedure, going over post-operative instructions with patient and driver and escorting the patient to their vehicles (if needed).Main ResponsibilitiesRelies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the jobFamiliar with surgical instrumentation and set preparationFamiliar with running autoclaveKnowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in a Surgery CenterPerforms a variety of tasks related to set preparationKnowledge of aseptic/sterilization/disinfection techniques, procedures, supplies, and equipmentKnowledge of what factors can violate the integrity of sterile packageCommunicates supply and equipment repairs to proper personnelPerforms all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervisionEducation/Experience/KnowledgeHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredPrior experience preferredCurrent CPR certification and capable of initiating cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in times of emergencyKnowledge of principles of sterile techniqueExcellent Communication SkillsPhysical/Mental Demands: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues for different purposes and different context.Marginal: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time. Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operations. Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
