nJob Summary
nThe Steward is responsible for upholding a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene across all kitchen and heart-of-house areas. This individual ensures that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively, in full compliance with the operational guidelines established by the Chief Steward.
nKey Duties & Responsibilities
nCollects required cleaning tools, supplies, and products from storage before beginning work
nInspects equipment before, during, and after use to ensure proper working condition and confirm correct chemical usage
nCleans assigned areas thoroughly using appropriate methods and materials
nOperates dishwashing equipment, maintaining established washing temperatures
nMonitors the recycling of dishwater according to proper procedures
nPolishes metal items (gold, silver, copper, brass, etc.) using correct techniques to prevent damage
nHandles and stores operating equipment properly to maintain functionality and prevent breakage
nAdheres to all Health & Safety standards at all times, such as those regarding chemical handling
nParticipates in Health & Safety training to minimize risk of accidents or injuries
nMaintains accurate cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance records for designated work areas
nPerforms additional duties as assigned by the Chief Steward or other members of the Management team
nSkills, Experience, & Educational Requirements
nA minimum of 1 year of experience in a stewarding or similar cleaning role is preferred
nPrior kitchen experience is a plus (training will be provided as needed)
nBasic understanding of Health & Safety procedures, such as safe chemical handling
nSome knowledge of hotel/resort operations
nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
nMust be able to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays

nStanding, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
