Job description
Stick WelderWe are seeking a Stick Welder to perform welding tasks using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick Welding) process. This role involves interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and welding symbols to accurately join, fabricate, repair, and reinforce metal components and structures across public infrastructure projects, including lighting poles, transmission towers, and other exposed structures. Approximately 90% travel required.Pay: $26.00- $40.00 per hour DOEResponsibilities:Perform welding using the SMAW/Stick Welding processRead and interpret blueprints, specifications, welding symbols, diagrams, and schematicsSelect and prepare appropriate electrodes, welding equipment, materials, and toolsSet up and operate stick welding equipment according to project specificationsPerform welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positionsWeld, fabricate, repair, and reinforce metal components and structuresPrepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and fitting materialsInspect completed welds for accuracy and compliance with project specificationsIdentify and correct welding defects (cracks, porosity, undercutting, incomplete fusion, slag inclusions)Perform weld tests and inspections as requiredFollow company, OSHA, and project-specific safety proceduresWear required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and hard hatsPerform routine inspections and basic maintenance of welding machines, cables, leads, and grindersMaintain accurate records of welding activities and completed workCommunicate with welders, inspectors, supervisors, and project managers regarding project requirements and progressRequired:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 3 years of experience as a welder, specifically with SMAW/Stick WeldingAbility to perform quality welds in multiple positions, including vertical and overheadAbility to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, specifications, and schematicsWillingness and ability to travel approximately 90% of the timeAbility to work safely at heights and in elevated work areas, including from a man basketAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsPreferred:Welding certification or technical welding trainingAWS certification in SMAW/Stick WeldingStructural steel and/or heavy steel welding experienceWhat We Offer:Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceHSA/FSALife and AD&D InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term DisabilityAccident, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness401(k) with company matchPTO & 10 paid holidays
