Job description
Patient Care TechnicianProvides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health.Essential Job FunctionsProvides basic patient care to include, but not limited to, care and comfort, record vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility, including unit based specialty duties.Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns to nurseProvides high level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors and all employeesProvides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient careUses professional, verbal and written communication skills at all timesWork ExperiencePreference for recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facilityRequired SkillsAbility to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare teamAbility to understand and follow directions of healthcare teamKnowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations (i.e. falls, skin breakdown, suicide prevention, environment of care)Infection prevention and transmission based precautionsUnderstanding of clerical duties and office based technologyTeam dynamicsPatient data collection and documentation (i.e. vital signs, intake/output, change in patient condition)Basic hygiene and activities of daily living careFeeding, hydration, and nutritionBowel and bladder eliminationAmbulation and patient mobilityUse of clinical technologyCompassionate, relationship based approach in care activitiesAccountability for completion of assigned tasksEscalation of concerns via chain of commandCertificationsBLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)Nursing Student with First Clinical Rotation complete OR state testing complete (required)EducationHigh School/GED (required)Part Time - 24 Weekly Scheduled HoursShift Time - 7pm - 7amEvery other weekend and holidayAs a Bon Secours Mercy Health associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
