Role: Struct & Payload Design Engr 4
Location: North Charleston, South Carolina (Onsite)
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a Structures and Payload Design Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity. The Payloads organization is responsible for the interior of the airplane, including stow bins, crew areas, cargo compartments, and associated systems. This role operates in a dynamic environment and involves work that spans the product lifecycle, from supporting customer configuration and supplier engagement to validating design requirements and supporting the product through production and certification.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements.
Develop, maintain, and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools.
Support production system fabrication and the structural and mechanical aspects of aircraft interiors.
Lead performance, integration, and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements.
Manage supplier development, test, and production activities to optimize design and achieve program goals.
Engage with project engineering, production engineering, program teams, and management to define and implement engineering solutions.
Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Structural, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil engineering is required. Technology degrees are not accepted.
Experience: A minimum of 9 years of experience in an engineering field is required, including design, integration, or certification. A relevant Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within a demanding production system.
Understanding of FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, and design criteria and release processes.
Experience in program or project management, including development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, and risk management.
Experience leading a cross-functional team.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
