Job description

Structural QA InspectorThe Structural QA Inspector supports the Structural QA Lead by verifying that all structural-related activities conform to engineering designs, industry codes, regulatory requirements, and Tesla standards. This position requires solid technical judgment and problem-solving skills to perform surveillance, audits, and inspections as directed by the Structural QA Lead.ResponsibilitiesConduct surveillance and audits of structural steel fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and installation to confirm that the contractor's QC program is being effectively implemented and maintained throughout all process units and utility systemsReview and evaluate contractor QC records for accuracy and completeness; identify gaps, deficiencies, and trends in contractor QC documentation and report findings to the Structural QA LeadWitness and verify key structural testing and inspection activities to confirm that contractor QC inspections and testing are being performed correctly, at the required frequency, and acceptance criteria are being metPerform audits and surveillance of contractor/subcontractor QC programs; prepare findings, observations, and non-conformances with corrective actions for the Structural QA LeadReview structural material submittals, MTRs, heat traceability, PMI results, and weld consumable certifications to confirm contractor validation of material compliance; escalate discrepancies, substitutions, or missing certs to the Structural QA LeadIdentify and document QA discrepancies with photos, measurements, and test data; track corrective action closeout per the project QA programMaintain QA surveillance records, audit reports, NCN logs, NDE observations, and field notes; communicate findings to the Structural QA Lead and contractor QC, and capture lessons learned for continuous improvementRequirementsMinimum of 8 years' experience as a quality inspector on large-scale industrial projects with at least 3 years as a client/owner quality representativeDemonstrated ability to read, interpret, and analyze discipline-specific technical documents, communicate effectively with contractor QC teams and the Structural QA LeadDemonstrates advanced knowledge of quality assurance program requirements and key construction codes; proficiency with inspection tools; working knowledge of NDE methods and proceduresDemonstrates advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate, analyze, and help resolve complex quality issues and report QA findings with recommended corrective actions for nonconformancesPossesses a comprehensive understanding of quality management principles and the ability to apply them throughout all phases of the project and system turnover walkdownsAbility to perform effectively within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive commissioning goalsCompensation & BenefitsBenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Medical plans with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSAHealthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefitsCompany paid Basic Life, AD&DShort-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period)Employee Assistance ProgramSick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid HolidaysBack-up childcare and parenting support resourcesVoluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insuranceWeight Loss and Tobacco Cessation ProgramsTesla Babies programCommuter benefitsEmployee discounts and perks program
