Job Description Job Description ProTrade is looking for experienced Structural Steel Fitters for a shop-based project in Sophia, NC.
Schedule
Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Approximately 45 hours per week
Up to 3 Saturdays per month (half or full days)
Total hours typically range from 49-54 hours per week
What You'll Be Doing
Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fitting and welding requirements
Laying out and fitting structural steel components using measuring tools, clamps, and welding equipment
Tacking assemblies in place and performing mockups for welders to complete FCAW and MIG welding
Fitting and assembling structural steel components to precise specifications
Inspecting welded joints and structural assemblies for quality, accuracy, and compliance with safety regulations
Maintaining a safe and organized work environment at all times
What We're Looking For
3+ years of proven experience as a structural steel fitter or welder in a construction or fabrication environment
Experience working with heavy structural steel
Experience with FCAW welding
Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and drawings
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Safety-first mindset - no exceptions
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods throughout the shift
Able to lift and carry materials and tools weighing 50+ lbs
Must be able to wear and work in full PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots at all times
