Job description

Specialty Technician IECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician I to join our Baltimore team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Specialty Technician I performs field-based destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities in support of specialty construction materials testing projects. This role focuses on specialized testing disciplines such as structural steel inspections, welding observations, and/or non-destructive evaluation (NDE) while working under the direction of more experienced staff. The Specialty Technician I develops technical competency in specialty testing methods and inspection practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesPerforms destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materialsConducts inspections of structural steel, reinforcing steel, and connections (welded and bolted)Performs field observations and inspections and collects samples for testingDocuments findings in accordance with engineering and inspection standardsCommunicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managersReports changes in site conditions and additional testing needsPerforms inspections in fabrication facilities when requiredPrepares and submits daily field reports and documentationPerforms basic calculations and data reduction tasksMaintains and organizes field testing equipmentNotifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipmentAttends project meetings as requestedPerforms other specialty testing and inspection duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentSupport you in enhancing your professional skills to advance and grow with us.Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities.QualificationsRequired Qualifications2 years of related experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredObtain two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification PolicyIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-orientedLimited knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methodsGood understanding of construction practices and jobsite operationsAbility to work independently under direction and as part of a teamProficiency with electronic devices and field reporting systemsBasic math and data documentation skillsAbility to interpret plans, specifications, and instructionsAbility to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable)Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policiesMilitary Qualifications:The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education, certification, and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":E-4/E-5The expected pay range for this role and location is $28-$45/hour.
