Job description

Student Nurse Tech (SNT)SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture between Select Medical and SSM Health, is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (SNT) in Bridgeton, MO. The schedule is PRN or full-time days/nights with 12-hour shifts ranging from 6:45-7:15. PRN must work four shifts per every six-week period. Compensation is $22 plus a $2 night shift differential. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available.This position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) and proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, or equivalent.This is the perfect opportunity for a student nurse to gain hands-on experience while enrolled in an accredited school of nursing! Reports problems to a primary nurse/designeeReinforces rehabilitation techniques as directed to maximize patient recoveryParticipates in Therapeutic Dysphagia and Feeding Program as assigned. Assists with monitoring of diets, nutritional supplements as well as provides appropriate cues to patients for feeding or swallowing once directed by speech or occupational therapist. Provides water/juice and snacks as appropriateReports problems and progress to the primary nurse throughout the shift. Immediately reports accidents to the nurse. Refers questions and inquires to the nurse for follow-up. Communicates effectively with the rehabilitation team including nursing, therapy, and physiciansProvides and receives shift to shift report to ensure continuity of patient careObserves safety rules, standard precautions and fire regulations. Maintains patient confidentiality, patient rights and privacyInteracts with patients, families, peers and supervisors in a calm, positive, courteous and appropriate mannerAssists nurse with patient admissions, transfers and discharges; safeguards patients' belongings and other items during these procedures. Assists nurse in taking pictures of new admissions for insertion into the medical record. Collects specimens from patients as assigned and transports specimens to the lab if requiredQualificationsBLS RequiredEducation: provide proof of completion of the 1st year/fundamentals of nursing or the equivalentSkilled in utilizing a variety of nursing equipmentPossess interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and appropriately to patient families, physicians and other hospital associatesCPR required*This position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, (or equivalent).**Post offer employment testing (POETs) are completed as part of the onboarding process and are to be completed before an employee's first day of work.
