About Us
Rivianis on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role Summary
This is a unique opportunity to join Rivian's Vehicle Design Studio and bridge the gap between creative ambition and engineering discipline. As a Studio Engineer II, you will play a dual role: driving theme packaging feasibility alongside our styling teams, and directly designing and releasing components for Rivian's Adventure Products. We are looking for candidates who possess a rare mix of aesthetic sensitivity, CAD speed, and solid engineering fundamentals. In this role, you will help shape the vehicles and products of the future while leveraging emerging workflows, including AI-assisted design, to push boundaries efficiently.
Responsibilities
Drive theme packaging development and feasibility for interior and exterior Class 'A' surfaces. Arbitrate technically challenging areas by balancing Design vision with Engineering constraints.
Take ownership of Adventure Products components from concept to production. Design, release, and manage parts spanning diverse materials and processes (injection molding, metal fabrications, castings, fabrics, etc.).
Generate 3D concepts, 2D detailed sections, master sections, craftsmanship sections, and SLA/SLS prototype parts using CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE.
Chair feasibility reviews and communicate technical requirements clearly to Designers, Clay Modelers, Surfacing Specialists, and Release Engineers.
Manage and police key legislative/homologation requirements, vehicle targets, safety standards, and hard points within program timelines.\
Manage data structure and product lifecycle (PLM) in Enovia from early concept through simulation, supplier engagement, and production support.
Develop NUDDs, DFMEAs, and DVPRs to guide physical product testing and ensure root-cause problem solving for complex assembly issues.
Responsibly leverage AI tools and modern digital workflows to accelerate problem-solving, optimize iterations, and enhance technical decision-making in compliance with internal policies.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in automotive studio engineering, vehicle packaging, or component Design & Release (D&R) in style-sensitive environments.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred: Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
