Job description
Certified Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistant
The role of the Certified Therapist Assistant is to restore, reinforce, and enhance the emotional, physical, or vocational capabilities of students whose abilities are threatened or impaired by such factors as developmental deficiencies, physical injury or illness, psychological or social disability consistent with district policy, procedures and provides assistance to students as needed in support of the goals and educational mission of the district.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Collaborate with Supervising Therapist regarding students needs as related to each student's IEP goals, and objectives to include direct services and treatment plans.
Provide skilled interventions aligned with student IEP goals in the areas of school-based occupational therapies.
Follow current Federal, State, and local procedures for students with disabilities. Maintains accurate and thorough records as required by law, governance policies and administrative regulations to ensure confidentiality of student records and information.
Records shall include documentation of direct services, and end of year caseload report.
Responsible for requisitioning and maintaining necessary equipment and supplies.
Completes required training as assigned by supervisor designed to increase or enhance position skills or requirements.
Communicates and interacts appropriately with building and central office administration and staff, co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and other members of the public.
Actively participates in meetings, activities, in-service training opportunities and utilizes information received to improve job performance.
Actively interacts with all district computer systems including but not limited to timesheets, online forms, online training, point of sale systems, and electronic mail with training provided as necessary.
Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor as previously performed from time to time, such as other functions that are reasonably related to the employee's responsibilities.
Qualifications
Possesses a valid Ohio Therapy Assistant License
Therapy Assistant License through the Ohio Department of Education
Fulfill and maintain requirements for continuing state licensure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Successful completion of BCI/FBI background check
The ability to communicate and understand the developmental and age appropriate needs of the students.
Ability to work with diverse populations;
Demonstrates reliability, timeliness and good attendance
