Substitute Custodial WorkersThe Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Gregory Mott, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of Substitute Custodial Workers in the Poughkeepsie City School District. Must meet Civil Service requirements. Candidates must submit a Frontline application to be considered for appointment.Duties involve efficient performance of simple cleaning tasks under general supervision of custodians or senior custodial workers. Responsibilities include dusting furniture, washing windows and walls, sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning and maintaining building exteriors, gathering and disposing of refuse, cleaning and polishing furniture and brass, performing minor repairs, maintenance chores such as painting or snow removal, operating a school bus if qualified and licensed, making deliveries and running errands, and doing related work as required.Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics include working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment, ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions, ability to get along well with others, thoroughness, punctuality, cleanliness, and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate. Salary is $18/hour, per diem.
