Substitute Custodian School Year$14 per hourGLOUCESTER COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCESPOSITION TITLE: Non-Exempt, On-Call, As NeededGENERAL STATEMENT: The Substitute Custodian, under the supervision of the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Custodial Foreman, performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others asQUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalent, preferredCustodial experience, preferredAptitude for successful completion of tasksAbility to prioritize, organize, and perform work independentlyAbility to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and work in varied weather conditionsSatisfactory completion of all onboarding requirements prior to first day of employment, including, but not limited to:Documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.Virginia State Police/FBI criminal history background checkVirginia Department of Social Services background checkTuberculosis test/screening completed within the last 12 monthsESSENTIAL DUTIES:Completes cleaning schedule for areas assigned, within the frequency requirements provided.Conducts routine tours of the physical plant, grounds, and facility as assigned in the schedule.Routinely inspects those areas outlined in the building for possible personnel and safety hazards and reports to the appropriate person(s).Conducts such maintenance functions, which are assigned, within the knowledge and skill level as determined by the appropriate person(s).Observes cleaning and maintenance needs or requirements for the areas assigned and reports the requirements to the appropriate person(s).Reports as essential personnel and performs duties as required upon implementation of the Inclement Weather Plan.Acts in a courteous and respectful manner, using good judgment and appropriate communication skills at all times.Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding students, parents, and other staff members.Models non-discriminatory behavior in all activities.Performs related work as required.May be assigned additional tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities as needed and requested.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Significant amount of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and other repetitive motions.
