Substitute Custodian Pool 2026 JDREPORTS TO: Principal and Custodian ForemanWORK DAYS: 12 Months 240 Days - SALARY: Substitute Daily Rate $90.00/DayLOCATION: Various LocationsJOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Custodian is to maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Follows job related instructions given by the principal and other supervisors.Maintains safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitors.Orders materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budget.Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times.After opening the building each day at the designated time, checks to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of occupancy.Daily, at the designated time, secures all doors and windows, and turns off lights except those left on for security reasons.Cleans restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulations.Cleans classrooms and corridors daily.Removes trash and rubbish from campus daily; cuts grass weekly and trims shrubbery as needed.Cares for plants and shrubs inside as well as outside the building.Moves furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the Head Custodian.Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations.Engages in professional growth & demonstrates professional ethics & leadership.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Must provide own transportation.High School Diploma or equivalent.Valid Alabama Driver's License.*SUCH ALTERNATIVES TO THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS AS THE BOARD MAY REQUIRE.APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:Completed Application (HireTrue)Resume (Upload to Application)Three (3) returned References (HireTrue)*PLEASE ENSURE ALL INFORMATION IS CURRENT WITHIN A 6 MONTH PERIOD*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job responsibilities.REVISED: May 2025
