Substitute CustodianCertification:High school diploma, GED or equivalentEmployment:Successful background checkComplete physical, TB and drug screenBending, twisting and lifting up to 50lbsAbility to work effectively, cooperatively, and respectfully with staff, students, etc. regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disabilityEssential Job Functions:A substitute custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties to ensure a safe, clean learning and working environment in the absence of a regular employeeThoroughly clean all traffic areas in assigned rooms/offices on a daily basis using a chemically treated dust mop or vacuum where appropriateWet clean hard surface floors as designated with appropriate floor productRemove spots on hard surfaces and carpeted floors as neededSpot clean walls, doors and switch plates as needed, remove graffitiClean interior glass doors and glass partitionsEmpty and clean waste baskets, clean with an odor controlling solution as needed, replace liners in waste basketsClean classroom desks as necessaryClean whiteboards and pencil sharpeners as necessaryClean sinks in lab areasClean and maintain all custodial and maintenance closetsClean and disinfect drinking fountains and polish bright metal workMaintain exterior steps and sidewalksClean kitchen areas as designatedClean cafeteria areas as designatedClean gymnasiums, auditoriums, etc. as designatedClean and disinfect restrooms on a daily basisRefill supplies such as toilet paper, soap and paper towels as neededReplace light bulbs as neededClean inside/outside windows as neededTurn off lights and lock all doors and windows after cleaning each roomRemove trash from all designated areas and empty into dumpsterPerform snow removal, including shoveling and applying de-icer as necessaryDust as assignedAssist building staff with request for moving supplies, etc.Move furniture, including lunch tables, as neededSet up/tear down for special events (e.g. concerts)Load/unload trucks or other items as neededMove furniture as assignedClean windows, lockers, etc. as assignedComplete repairs as neededAssist head custodian as neededPerform other duties as assigned
