Supervisor, Manufacturing OperationsLocation: US - NJ - SomersetThe Supervisor, Manufacturing Operations will work closely with the Director, Manufacturing Operations to establish a high-quality continuous improvement culture, implement value stream mapping and lean principles, and focus on problem solving using tools such as 8D. The successful candidate will manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously with a "hands on" style. The candidate must exemplify true leadership in developing his/her subassembly manufacturing line team to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives, and, in general, build credibility in Veeco and Veeco's culture.Responsibilities:Ensure compliance to all Safety and 5S standards, Continuous improvement activities, and a culture of safety – always ensure zero OSHA recordablesEnsure the quality of the output of the Veeco Flow Technologies (VFT) group meets/ exceeds corporate goals of Out-of-box quality (OBQ) as well as in-box-quality (IBQ)Follow-up with internal and external corrective actions by partnering with the Quality organization to improve our quality of productsThe products in this group are covered under various 3rd party certifications/ compliance requirements. As such, ensure that people, processes, parts follow and remain compliant to all such requirements through training, certifications, audits, and complianceSupervise VFT (Veeco Flow Technologies – VFT) efforts to meet quarterly/annual plansEstablish operations planning model which serves the needs of businessCollaborate with Planning to schedule resources based on customer requirements, production capacities and materials supplyManage the flow of VFT components and assemblies to meet the needs of the production schedulesDevelop schedules and manpower requirements for VFTAssist with annual budget, resource plan for VFT ProductionMonitor and perform within forecasted expenses and inventory targetsSupervise, organize, and engage VFT employees to drive Continuous improvement in workplace safety and organizationDevelop organization – training, mentoring, coaching and leading the VFT Production teamEvaluate strengths/ weaknesses and take action to ensure long term health, productivity, and a high-performance cultureCreate and execute cross-training and succession plansInstitutionalize continuous improvement using 8D problem solvingEnsure closed-loop feedback from quality escapes to customer site to drive corrective actionStrengthening procedures and structure around VFT activities such as workflow planning, tracking progress and troubleshootingTrack and present key performance indicators (KPI's), lessons learned, and corrective actions monthlyIdentify gaps in production processes and make recommendations as required to sufficiently remedy issuesReview performance of VFT employees regularly to ensure improvementSupport cross-functional activities for new product developmentMake budgetary recommendations to provide production workers with tools and equipment as neededQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing Operations, or a related technical discipline preferred5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with a demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence and team performanceProven success leading, coaching, and developing teams of technicians, assemblers, and production personnel in a fast-paced manufacturing settingStrong background in electromechanical manufacturing, including assembly, testing, process improvement, and production supportExperience operating within highly regulated manufacturing environments, such as Semiconductor, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other quality-driven industriesExperience with ERP systems is required; SAP preferredComplex, electro-mechanical equipment/systems manufacturing environment experience is requiredExperience implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S initiatives in a manufacturing environment is requiredExperience with semiconductor capital equipment, components or processes is a plusStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated experience supporting external audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives, with a strong understanding of regulatory and quality requirementsComprehensive knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and operational controlsStrong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement practicesProven ability to drive compliance, quality, productivity, and safety initiatives while meeting business objectivesSalary and Benefits:The expected salary range for this position is $76,094.00 - 96,386.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
