Supplier Development EngineerKymeta revolutionizes satellite communications through Intelligent Communications Platforms (ICPs). With over 150 patents, Kymeta is shaping the future of global communications.Kymeta is seeking an exceptional in-region Supplier Development Engineer with flat panel display foundry, flex circuit, high-volume surface mount technology and chip-on-board (COB) / chip-on-flex (COF) display technology experience to serve as technical coach and change agent while working directly with suppliers to mature processes and ensure seamless collaboration between them and Kymeta's engineering design teams. This position is 100% remote, based in primarily in Japan with the ability to travel in APAC region to efficiently execute the job responsibilities.Candidates must be currently residing in Japan and legally authorized to work in Japan, as this role requires regular travel to supplier sites throughout the region.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead technical oversight for high-risk and niche suppliers, conducting deep process and capability assessments to identify systemic risks, resolve complex performance issues through root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.Lead strategic supplier development programs for critical and strategic suppliers.Assist Kymeta supply chain and engineering in identifying and selecting niche vendors to execute key aspects of Kymeta metamaterials based terminal supply plan.Partner closely with Kymeta Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Quality and Engineering teams to enable optimal supply outcomes with Kymeta in region of responsibility.Travel as needed to supplier sites and engage with current and potential Kymeta suppliers in region facilitating sourcing and supply objectives with Kymeta. Travel to Kymeta in Redmond, WA on occasion as required.SKILLSStrong technical knowledge of all processes/procedures involved in COB/COF technologies, novel substrates.Self-driven and motivated, with the ability to break down complex problems into actionable solutions.Collaborative team player with excellent communication and documentation skills.Demonstrated curiosity to understand system-level behavior while maintaining attention to critical details.Advanced written and spoken proficiency in Japanese and English is required to translate and manage technical documentation. Additional fluency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred to support the broader APAC region.EXPERIENCE7+ years of experience in flat panel display or related industry design or process engineeringProven track record of improving supplier processes and coordinating efforts between US based design entities and remote vendors resulting in reduced time to market and stable supplier outcomes.EDUCATIONBachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics) required.COMPENSATIONKymeta is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In the spirit of pay transparency, the monthly pay range for this position is USD $6,000 to USD $8,000, depending on experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and geographic location.Kymeta is an equal opportunity employer.
