Job DescriptionJob Title: Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Waterloo, IA
Duration: 24 months with possible extension
Key Responsibilities
Lead and drive resolution of critical shop floor and customer quality issues by implementing effective root cause analysis, corrective actions, and long-term preventive measures to eliminate recurrence.
Support quality planning activities primarily for fluid conveyance products, while also contributing to projects involving hydraulics, metal fabrication, and fasteners.
Manage quality initiatives related to existing products, supplier change requests, cost-reduction projects, supplier transitions, and temporary sourcing activities.
Conduct Design Process and Assembly Reviews (DPARs), engineering drawing reviews, and product design assessments for both new and existing products.
Utilize Six Sigma methodologies and quality tools such as Statistical Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and 8D problem-solving techniques to identify and mitigate quality risks associated with externally manufactured components and assemblies.
Lead and collaborate with Supplier Quality Improvement Teams to enhance supplier performance, product quality, and process effectiveness.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience in project management, including the ability to facilitate, lead, and coordinate cross-functional teams and initiatives.
Strong understanding of quality management systems and tools, including FMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, Gage R&R, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Process Capability Studies.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex engineering drawings with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience with data collection, advanced analytical techniques, and statistical analysis for quality improvement initiatives.
Previous experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related manufacturing quality role.
Self-driven professional with strong initiative, accountability, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
Education
Bachelor‘s degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field.
Recent graduates with relevant education and a strong interest in quality engineering are encouraged to apply.
