Job description

Support Coach

The Center for Male Engagement (CME) empowers underrepresented male students to thrive academically, professionally, and as leaders. Open to all Community College of Philadelphia students, CME fosters a supportive community that values students' unique experiences while providing personalized coaching, academic support, career exploration, personal development, mentoring, and culturally responsive programming designed to improve retention and academic success. As a key contributor to this mission, the Support Coach designs, implements, and coordinates a comprehensive range of student support services. These include case management, academic support, career and leadership development, life skills training, and cultural enrichment initiatives. The Support Coach provides individualized coaching, develops innovative programming aligned with CME's goals, and ensures students are equipped with the skills and confidence to navigate college successfully, achieve their educational goals, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the workforce.

Essential Responsibilities

Lead recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, and orientation efforts to ensure students experience a welcoming and structured introduction to CME.

Provide high-touch individualized coaching and case management to support students' academic persistence, leadership development, and career readiness, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic and professional success plans.

Monitor student engagement, retention, academic progress, and completion outcomes, maintaining accurate documentation and utilizing data to inform proactive and appropriate interventions and program improvements.

Design, implement, and assess programming aligned with CME's strategic priorities and institutional objectives. Programming should be responsive to student needs and include defined goals and measurable outcomes.

Serve as a resource to students regarding enrollment, financial aid, academic planning, transfer pathways, credential completion, and workforce preparation.

Conduct ongoing basic needs and risk assessments and respond to barriers impacting student success by connecting participants to appropriate campus and community resources in a timely and coordinated manner.

Contribute to the planning and execution of year-round and CME summer programming, including a four-day, off-campus overnight leadership retreat, ensuring appropriate student supervision, risk awareness, and program implementation.

Contribute to the planning and execution of program initiatives that promote student engagement, retention, and completion.

Track, analyze, and report program data including persistence, engagement benchmarks, completion, and transfer milestones; contribute to monthly program updates, annual grant reporting, and institutional assessment processes.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners to enhance coordinated student support and expand engagement opportunities.

Facilitate workshops, trainings, and leadership development sessions for students and, when appropriate, internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrate initiative and accountability in program planning, student engagement, and administrative responsibilities.

Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices in student success, retention, culturally responsive engagement, and workforce preparation.

Maintain an inclusive and student-centered environment that affirms diverse identities, learning styles, experiences, and perspectives.

Represent CME and the College at recruitment, community events, and external partner meetings with professionalism, integrity, and commitment to service excellence.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the mission and strategic goals of CME and the College.

Position requires flexibility, including occasional evening and weekend availability, to support student programming, recruitment initiatives, and special events.
