General Surgeon Jobs - Locum Tenens Opportunity in Hattiesburg, Mississippi Join an on-site locum tenens General Surgeon opportunity in Hattiesburg, MS, supporting a Level III trauma facility and 30-bed surgical department. This short-term physician assignment offers the opportunity to provide adult general surgery and trauma care for approximately five patients per shift in a welcoming Southern Mississippi community.
General Surgery Job Details Specialty: General Surgery Location: Hattiesburg, MS 39402 Schedule: On-site coverage; shift details to be confirmed Coverage Dates: October 16, 2026 - October 19, 2026 Assignment Duration: 3 days Healthcare Setting: 30-bed surgical department within a Level III trauma facility Patient Volume: Approximately 5 patient encounters per shift Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,480-$7,670 Locum Tenens General Surgeon Requirements At least 1 year of experience in general surgery Physician licensure eligible for practice in Mississippi Board certification or board certification eligibility in General Surgery Current BLS certification Current ATLS certification Demonstrated proficiency in adult general surgery and trauma care Experience with laparoscopic procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication General Surgeon Responsibilities Evaluate and treat adult surgical patients in an on-site hospital setting Provide locum tenens coverage for approximately five patient encounters per shift Perform general surgical and trauma evaluations and procedures Perform laparoscopic appendectomies, cholecystectomies, hernioplasties, and Nissen fundoplications as clinically appropriate Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and the broader care team Document assessments, treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up care accurately Deliver timely, compassionate, and evidence-based surgical care throughout the coverage period About Hattiesburg, Mississippi Hattiesburg offers a welcoming Southern Mississippi setting with convenient access to regional airports and a vibrant community atmosphere.
