ATC Locums in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide coverage on August 3-4, 2026 while a physician is on leave. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-supported inpatient practice with a manageable patient census, Epic EMR, and the potential for temporary privileges to accommodate the short-notice need.

Opportunity Highlights Location: Newport News, Virginia
Practice Setting: Inpatient, hospital-based
Coverage Dates: August 3-4, 2026
Schedule: Two-day assignment with call coverage
Call: Beeper/phone call with an average of 3-4 callback hours depending on surgical volume
Patient Population: Adult
Patient Volume: Approximately 3-4 inpatient encounters per day
Procedures: Bread-and-butter general surgery; no bariatric surgery or bariatric call required
EMR: Epic
Support: Established hospital team in a non-trauma center environment
Credentialing: Approximately 1 month, with temporary privileges available for qualified candidates due to the urgent need
Qualifications Board Certified in General Surgery
Active Virginia medical license
ACLS certification
Clean malpractice and licensure history
Current NPDB Self-Query report (dated within 30 days of presentation)
This is an ideal assignment for a surgeon seeking a brief commitment, low inpatient volume, and the opportunity to provide meaningful coverage in a collaborative hospital setting.
