Job description

Trauma Surgery opening in Missouri- Springfield, Mo- Full time Overview Join a high-performing acute care surgery team at a state-designated Level I Trauma Center. This role offers a balanced mix of trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care in a collaborative, high-acuity environment with strong institutional support. Practice Details Established team of 8 Acute Care Surgeons (recruiting a 9th due to growth) Supported by experienced Advanced Practice Providers Based at a large regional referral center serving Southwest Missouri Broad, high-acuity case mix including trauma, emergency general surgery, and ICU care Clinical Responsibilities Manage trauma surgery cases and acute surgical emergencies Provide surgical critical care in the ICU Perform a wide range of operative procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic techniques Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care Participate in call coverage within a team-based model Optional involvement in teaching, mentorship, and clinical research Clinical Excellence & Innovation Top 1% nationally in robotic surgery utilization (ACS benchmark) Expanding minimally invasive and robotic approaches in acute care surgery Established clinical pathways for efficient, evidence-based care Strong multidisciplinary and operational support systems Practice Structure Balanced schedule across trauma, ICU, and acute care surgery services Collaborative call model designed for sustainability Efficient patient flow and care coordination infrastructure Supportive environment promoting teamwork and physician well-being Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care required Eligible for medical licensure in Missouri Strong clinical, operative, and critical care skills Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary Comprehensive benefits package Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance (if applicable) Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development Practice Highlights Established, respected Level I Trauma Program High-acuity surgical practice with diverse case mix Advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgery capabilities Strong team culture with excellent APP support Optional academic and research involvement Location & Lifestyle Located in Springfield Close to the Ozarks offering hiking, lakes, and outdoor recreation Affordable cost of living and family-friendly community Access to cultural amenities, dining, and entertainment Why This Opportunity Stands Out High-volume, high-acuity trauma and acute care surgery practice Nationally recognized robotic surgery program Balanced schedule with strong team-based support Opportunity to grow within a stable and expanding surgical program
